Join older Rutherford B. Hayes as he reflects on the Civil War and his lifelong involvement with OWU and Delaware.

The Delaware County Historical Society invites folks to join us for a historic walk with young Rutherford B. Hayes as he tells of how he first met Lucy at this place.
Participants will be guided through downtown by the Society’s Laurie Schaeffer and Brent Carson.
Re-enactor Devon Hardwick will portray Rutherford as a young attorney returning to his hometown. The journey begins at Ohio Wesleyan’s Sulfur Spring. Ask young Hayes about the dangers of Stagecoach travel.
As young Hayes drifts away, the tour will take you to the Historic Courthouse Hill. There you will be greeted by Rutherford B. Hayes, re-enacted by Bill Rietz, as he returns to Delaware in the last year of his life.
Tours begin at 1:00, 2:30, and 4:00 pm. Tour groups are limited to 15 people

Tickets are $10 for adult members and $15 for nonmembers, $10 for children ages 8 to 18, free for children under 8. There will be a small fee charged by Eventbrite.

Parking is available in the parking lots beside Selby Stadium or along Sandusky Street near campus.
In case of rain, the reenactors will present one tour program with photos of historic and current Delaware. Held in the Barn at Stratford(click for map) at a time will be determined if the rain location is needed.
