Madame X: Alice Meyer Driscoll
at 6:30 on Wednesday, Sept 20
at the Franklinton Historical Society
Alice Meyer Driscoll (1889-1971) moved to Westerville with her family when she was six. If anyone told her, while she was growing up, that women didn’t have a head for math, she didn’t listen. From early in her college career at Otterbein and then at The Ohio State University, she pursued technical and scientific studies. Fluent in English, French, German, Latin, and Japanese, she also studied statistics and music. Ms. Meyer was the U.S. Navy’s principal star cryptanalyst and was especially good at decoding the emerging machine technology of the era.
Hear Travis Risner of Westerville explain her life, her career, and why history overlooked her.
